The Maintenance Operator will exhibit a high standard of safety behaviour while carrying out Engine Room maintenance and Engine Room system operation. He maybe expected to perform maintenance, welding, machining, pipe and mechanical fitting and related activities. Depe nding on his qualifications, he acts as the Junior Watchkeeper.

Units Of Competence

1    Prepare Engine Room and Utility Systems for start-up.

1. Start and Monitor Engine Room and Utility Systems
2. Prepare and Shutdown Engine Room and Utility Systems.
3. Isolate and reinstate Engine Room and Utility Sys terns for Maintenance
4. Carry out Planned and Unplanned Maintenance
5. Monitor And Maintain Pollution Control Measures
6. Carry out EmergencyResponse Role
7. Provide any additional duties as required bythe 01M/Unit Spt. and (or HOD to maintain safe and efficient run ning of the Unit.

Pre-hire Qualifications and Experience

Maintenance Operator Grade 1

3 years experience in shipping as a watch keeping Engine Room rating, STCW Reg.Alll/4, or EOOW STCW Reg. Alll/l OR general maintenance skills including fitting, and Coded Welding qualification.

VLCC Large Seagoing Vessel Engine Room or FPSO operations experience desirable.

Medicallyfit to offshore International standards such as ENGI or equivalent.

Maintenance Operator Grade 2

3 years experience in shipping as a watch keeping Engine Room rating, STCW Reg. Alll/4, or EOOW STCW Reg. All/ 1 AND general maintenance skills including fitting, and Coded Welding qualification.

VLCC Large Seagoing Vessel Engine Room or FPSO operations experience essential.

Medically fit to offshore International standards such as ENGI or equivalent.
